There are two (2) type of Search Engine Marketing that can be used in promoting your website, they are SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and PPC (Pay-Per-Click). It seems that people are often uncertain as to which type of SEM they will choose when promoting their business or clients website.

In my own experience, “When PPC Campaign is successful, SEO is surely more successful” but (“Not all successful SEO Campaign is successful in PPC Campaign”)

When you will need PPC?

PPC is a fastest way to place your website in a search engine. If you are running a short website campaign like event, promotional products or to get starter traffic for your website, PPC campaign is an ideal for you.

What are the Benefits of PPC

  • You can choose who will see the ads
  • Can monitor & control anytime
  • A quick way of promoting a website
  • Can provide immediate results

PPC can be a very effective way to promote a website. However the main disadvantage is that once you stop spending, your adverts stop showing, there is no long term return for the expense.

When you will need SEO?
If you are looking for long-term results of website campaign, SEO is an ideal for you. In SEO, there is no need for you to pay for the clicks although it will require you to spend time doing research to get a positive combination of ads and target audience. SEO process is a long term one. It requires months, at least 6 months, before the proper outcome is fully achieved, but once the goal is accomplished, you will definitely get a steady source of profit.

What are the Benefits of SEO?

  • Visitors from search engine results do not cost you a penny.
  • The rankings a website achieves through SEO can continue for a long time after the work has been done.
  • Over the long term SEO can be more cost effective than PPC.

In SEO and PPC, the most important process here is the Keyword Research, improper keyword research will result in unsuccessful campaign. In deciding which of the two strategies will work right for you, think of your goals and your resources. They definitely offer benefits and advantages that will work for your good. The better way to approach this two is to evaluate according to your short term and long term plans. Take the PPC course for your short term goals and choose SEO if you have long term ones.
